Carbon Intelligence

Next-generation tools for carbon accounting

Carbon Intelligence is a consultancy that helps enterprise clients calculate their carbon footprint across buildings, transport and other business activity. Consultants were limited by their Excel-based workflow and required a more intuitive app for managing and visualising complex data. We worked together to create a vision for a tool that would increase efficiency and unlock more value for their clients.

Working in close collaboration with carbon consultants we mapped out existing and future workflows, co-designed new tools, and reimagined the entire accounting process iteratively to transition them beyond the limitations of an Excel-based workflow.

Much of our work was ground-breaking in the sense that we were shaping both the visualisation and methodologies for accounting carbon. As such, our team’s work was pivotal to Carbon Intelligence’s acquisition by Accenture.

We put our best foot forward reimagining workflows in low-fidelity wireframes.

Workshops helped us make the most of limited time with consultants. We gathered feedback on early designs and designed exercises to help us tap into their expertise.

Our work visualised complex relationships between buildings and groups of buildings, vital for organisations who want to attribute carbon to areas owned by different teams.
