Arthr is a new social venture backed by Versus Arthritis, the UK’s leading charity for people with Arthritis. Their mission is to make living with arthritis easier through thoughtfully designed products. I worked with them to design and launch their first site.
The challenge
Arthr needed to position their company and products alongside other well established competitors. It required creating a visual aesthetic that was refined yet approachable.
Accessible is beautiful
Accessibility was a central tenet of the design of the site. I intentionally employed large typography, high colour contrast, and generous white space throughout the design. It created not only an appealing minimal aesthetic but one that was better for everyone to use.
Their brand guidelines were extended to account for the additional needs of a digital system. This included new shades of their brand colours, which were tested for contrast and accessibility.
The bigger picture
Their own brand products solve problems that are not currently addressed by other products in the market. They’re unlike any products that have gone before them so it can be hard to fully grasp how the product helps from a single image. To address this, we created product showcase pages that were rich in information but a joy to explore.
Making a movement
Arthr’s marketing strategy is rooted in creating valuable relationships with their customers. Telling stories is one of the many ways they build that connection. Their blog was designed to give lots of flexibility for creating various types of articles, from expert opinion pieces to customer stories.
